Initial fermentation Ingredients
- Mushroom Substrate
- Homemade Biofertilizer 3 added to substrate.
- Rainwater
Phase 1
- Mushroom Substrate obtained from a Local Organic Mushroom farm.
- Scooped some dried substrate into a pail.
- Added Biofertilizer (DIY EM Biofertilizer) to substrate to moisten, but not to the point of over saturation.
- Once adequate moisture is observed, added the pail inoculated substrate into a 100L barrel.
- Continued to fill the barrel.
- Once the barrel was full, I placed the lid to the barrel on and secured the snap lock ring.
Now we play the waiting game for the substrate to perform the fermentation process.
Phase 2
I opened the barrel and observed the substrate with white growth becoming visible.
•Next step is to dry most of the material out and prepare for storage and Bokashi product. Adding in Biochar to the Bokashi will increase the effectiveness of microbial presence and be an added benefit for adding to soils.
• #Bokashi #trial has been in the #fermentation phase for 27 days without opening.
•Substrate settling has been observed from initial set up.
